Women's Winter Boots, Fashionable And Functional
|

Women's boots. Two words that can have many different meanings and be many different things. Depending on where you live you don't necessarily need women's winter boots. If you live in South Carolina where you hardly ever get snow you can wear women's fashion boots. If you live north, say in Vermont or Maine you're going to need good cold weather boots, something that will provide real protection and warmth for your feet.
If you're looking for women's winter boots to wear in the snow you're going to want to look for a heavier boot and something that is waterproof. You should probably have two pair of winter snow boots, one pair that's just above your ankle, and one that's mid calf. An ankle height women's winter boots looks nicer with pants then does a higher boot, but depending on the depth of the snow you may need a higher boot
There are many makers of women's winter boots including Trotters, who makes a very cute faux fur lined ankle boot that's water repellant, Ulu has a selection of high end quality boots of leather, shearling and primaloft insulation. Check out the offerings from Timberland and from The North Face. The North Face has many stylish pairs of winter snow boots for women with warm primaloft insulation and soles for added traction. The function of these boots is to keep your feet warm and dry. These winter boots are available in white, black and brown.
Want another warm without fail women's winter boot? Consider the most famous of women's sheepskin boots, Uggs. Uggs have been around for about 18 years now and have become a fashion staple in sunny California as well as in snowy Telluride. The wool foot beds keep your feet warm in winter and cool in summer However, Uggs are generally much more of a fashion statement then they let on to be. Uggs are not meant to be worn in the snow if they can get wet. They are not waterproof and if you stay out in the wet long enough they will get wet inside. They will eventually dry off of course, but your feet will be wet. Wear your sheepskin boots in cold weather on frozen snow, not melting snow.
If you want to make a fashion statement with your serious winter boots check out the Mukluk boots from Minnetonka. These are suede mukluks with sheepskin lining accented with rabbit fur and a braid. Very fashionable, and great to keep your warm and dry.
If you're looking to be more fashionable then warm look at the line of fashion boots offered from lines such as Vaneli and Franco Sarto. They have stylish boots in knee high, mid calf and ankle heights to choose from.
While we were looking we came upon several designer boots that we thought not only looked ridiculous but had no real function. One is the Sugar "Morigami" Boot. This boot has a fabric upper and a rubber sole and a polyester faux fleece. We don't see the need for this boot or the similarly ridiculous Roxy "Shasta" Boot. These Roxy boots have nylon uppers, acrylic linings and rubber soles. They seem to come in a variety of fabric styles and initially reminded us of Vera Bradley for the feet... oh no!!
